Spring Cha-Ching!

Hello, all!

Long time no, see!

During the time we saw you last, a lot has happened! Here are the top fours things that have happened since the last four months you've seen us through our blog!

1) SPRING HORNRAISER

We have started phase 2 of fundraising for our project this spring! Our learning center will need additional costs to accompany the disaster relief aspect. On top of selling samosas at Girl Day at UT and Explore UT, our team has fundraised through UT Basketball Games and six street donations! We will be taking donations through March 8th 9:00AM CT. Please donate and share!

2) WE HAVE A COMPLETED DESGIN

After hours of communication and back-and-forth with the local NGO, CASA, and community leaders we have finalized our design. Major components include a 7 foot elevation to accommodate 4 feet floods and also be used a storage space, two interior rooms where one that will act as a traditional classroom and the other as a storage space for computers and books, and a staircase that leads to the roof in case of a natural disaster.

3) EARLY MORNING SKYPE CALLS WITH THE COMMUNITY

There have been so many! We have gotten to see the community through Skype for the first time and meet with village leaders and contractors. This has been an amazing experience and we have learned a lot about the Irula people! And of course, 5:30am is the perfect time for team breakfast!

4) WE HAVE BEEN FEATURED ON KXAN!

The team got the amazing opportunity to be interviewed on KXAN about the project! Check out the interview and article through the link! We have been recognized through this! Basically, we are famous!
